On average, our households are filling up with more electrical appliances and devices. Often, we are unable to see how much electricity they use. A new partnership between NET2GRID and Eneco gives customers that information in real time which might also help them to cut back on their energy bills.
The ‘RealtimeThuis’ service shows customers how much energy in total they are using and the associated costs. The customer buys a special NET2GRID P1 meter and installs it in their meter cabinet, where it is connected to the smart meter. They then use the Eneco app to track in real time how much energy in total is being used and by which of their appliances and devices. The focus initially is on the household appliances that use the most energy, for example the washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, and fridge. Looking further ahead, the plan is to provide more information on other categories of appliances and devices as well.
Furthermore, Eneco wants to give the customer tips and push notifications which specifically apply for their situation, such as ways to save on their energy bill.
Development
Eneco will use the months ahead to develop the ‘RealtimeThuis’ service in practice. Customers can buy their NET2GRID P1 meter now, with a subscription for its use that is free of charge for the first six months. More and more services for customers will be optimized and added. Once fully developed, the ‘RealtimeThuis’ service will give customers detailed information about their energy consumption patterns, making it easier to save energy and costs.
