NET2GRID welcomes new #FACES, Peri and Dimitris

Today, on the 2nd episode of the #FACES series we take the opportunity to welcome 2 new colleagues who just joined NET2GRID, Peri, our new Graphic Designer, and Dimitris, our new Cloud Engineer. Combining knowledge from different backgrounds and disciplines, our new team members are ready to deploy their powers to help NET2GRID thrive!

Dimitris Tsimpitas

Cloud Engineer

Hey! I'm Dimitris! As of this year, I will have clocked 23 years on this planet, a good portion of which I have spent furiously watching programming tutorials or studying for one thing or another. On that note, I studied Applied Informatics at the University of Macedonia - a period which cultivated lots and lots of both personal & team projects. Nowadays one may either find me riding my bike with a camera strapped to my shoulder exploring Thessaloniki or at home working on various projects!

Tell us 3 words that describe your passion for cloud computing.

Three words? I'd say ''Little Big Miracles''. Honestly, if you take a step back and examine what we are actually doing - what we are actually building - how can you not have a passion for Cloud Computing (or any other branch of CompSci for that matter)? With relative ease one can deploy a whole array of applications, or store terabytes upon terabytes of data, one can scale everything in & out, horizontally & vertically...We have so much computing power in our hands - it's pretty amazing!

If you had one superpower, what would it be?

Super-speed. No debate on this one.

Your biggest ambition.

To keep learning! Be it programming, photography, or any other hobby, maintaining a dynamic pool of knowledge is something I aspire to do. Why stay fixed when there are so many things to learn?

PHP or Javascript?

Oof, what a question. I've had experience with both, and honestly, I don't think there's a crystal clear winner here. However...PHP offers a very compelling toolset out of the box, and I find that although it has some inconsistencies its quirks have not bothered me that much, so....PHP wins!

Linux or Windows?

Dual-boot! You can't have programming without Linux but you also can't have entertainment & creative work without Windows. Unless of course, you run macOS which I guess can do both :D

Burger or Pizza?

I have to say that I'm disappointed by both. Burgers are usually scaled vertically instead of horizontally making them hard to eat. Pizzas on the other hand are kind of boring. One can always not eat junk food I suppose ;)

Peri Kakaretsa

Graphic Designer

Hi, I am Peri Kakaretsa and I am 31 years old. Since I was a kid, I’ve been passionate about design; I always remember myself holding a pencil and drawing. I studied architecture at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where I received my degree in 2014. I am currently studying for a master’s degree “Graphic Arts & Multimedia” at Hellenic Open University. For the last three years, I have been working as a graphic designer. When I’m not behind my desk, I like traveling and spending time with my family and friends!

What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?

I enjoy playing video games, with Xbox Series S being my latest acquisition! I prefer racing, survival horror, and platform games!

What drew you to joining NET2GRID?

I was impressed by NET2GRID’s vision, philosophy, and the fact that it is a fast-growing, innovative Tech company that helps customers save energy and money while protecting the environment. So, I saw this opportunity as a way to contribute to an exciting company!

What’s your inspiration when designing?

I find inspiration from experiences! It can be a walk in nature, listening to music or reading a new book! They all constitute a source of multiple new images, shapes, forms, and colors that inspire me to generate new ideas and thoughts when designing. Also, keeping up with the latest trends and studying other designers’ work is really helpful for me!

Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop?

I can’t choose! In fact, I use both of them depending on the design; Illustrator for creating vector graphics and Photoshop for editing images or sketching with my digital pen!

AutoCAD or Sketchup?

I believe that both AutoCad and Sketchup are great software to create designs. If I had to choose one, I would prefer AutoCad, because it is a perfect choice for creating 2d and 3d models, in contrast to Sketchup, which is only for 3d models. Tell me crazy, although Sketchup is a simple and easier software to learn and use, I enjoy the complexity and the variety of tools that AutoCad offers!

Sea or Mountain?

I am certainly a sea person; I really enjoy swimming and spending time at the beach!
